Today, VantageScore CEO Silvio Tavares appeared live on Bloomberg Businessweek TV and Radio to discuss the latest insights from VantageScore’s December 2023 CreditGauge.
“The average VantageScore consumer credit score was 701, but what that masks is an area of concern. Basically, the consumer is experiencing a bit of a credit hangover. Credit card balances in December were up over 8.2% on a year-over-year basis. That’s a big jump. As we look at delinquencies, the rate at which people are paying their loans late is also increasing on a year-over-year basis. When you see that trend, that’s always cause for concern.”
